CHARACTER
Name: Leah
Canon: Marvel 616
Age: 20
Timeline: YA #012, right after Loki confesses to his guilt and she disappears.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: n/a

Personality: Leah is known to be keen on being ‘her own person’ and treasures a wish to live her own life made out of choices that are her own and not come forth out of the way Loki has written her. Yet, the construct of the real Leah gives the impression to be very much like the ‘real’ Leah. By saying the words  ‘everyone gets to write their own happy ending’ it is implied that she works and thinks like Leah. It can be assumed that this is a lie that she keeps up to make it easier for Loki to lure her in the trap she has set out for him.

Yet, it is sure that she doesn’t like to be bossed around or be put in a position where she has to obey someone else’s commands.  Still, whenever she feels that something or someone crosses her boundaries, she retaliates. This can vary from a good smack across the face, a powerful blast of magic, a well aimed kick in the groin or worse. She is quite ruthless as canon proves when her plot to trap Loki puts Teddy Altman and earth itself in a rather difficult position.

And this is where the grudges come in. Leah is good at holding grudges, forgiving is hard for her. The way she handles these grudges is very evident in the canon point I have taken her from. Leah appears to be composed, polite and seems to be a supportive friend to one of the main characters (Teddy Altman),  yet underneath it all she is seething with anger and plotting her revenge on Loki. Teddy is nothing else but a pawn in a bigger scheme.

Leah can be extremely manipulative. Those tendencies show in the way she manages to wind Teddy Altman around her finger, posing as some sort of therapist who leads a group of scorned exes. She shows them understanding and has convinced most of them that they share an important connection because they all have been hurt by certain Young Avengers. She also speaks about Loki sending her away to a far away past in a very casual way and refers to it as ‘annoying’ (while we all know it is more than just annoying to her).  It is quite clear she takes advantage of their emotions and feelings while posing as their ally.

When she interacts with others she speaks quite formal. When she disagrees she can come over as quite snappy, but mostly she gives a reserved impression. As I mentioned earlier, Leah is not someone who lets her emotions show. Not in her face, not in her voice. Stupidity from others will receive mockery or a sneer.

The origin of Leah’s existence lies with a purpose, she is extremely purpose-driven. Throughout the issues she has appeared she has not shown much emotions except for feigned friendliness and anger towards Loki. Her actions and decisions will serve her purpose. If Loki would be there, it would be bringing down Loki. If he won’t be there, it would be assuring that she will be able to bring down Loki.

Leah is an intelligent young lady and is quite observant as well, knowing how to respond according to the way others behave. Possessions are not important to her, neither is power.

She also proves to be quite stubborn and unwilling to participate in something she doesn’t agree with or that leads her away from her purpose. That is the big difference between this Leah and the Leah that waits in a far away past. Since this Leah’s existence is bound to Loki’s sense of guilt, her purpose is to make his life a rotten hell that might lead up to a full and satisfying confession.

It is not that Leah is unable to like anything or care about anything else. She is known for caring about well-prepared milkshakes and she appreciates handsome men with a muscular physique. She knows what she is capable of and that it is sufficient to cause the damage she desires. Despite being guilt on legs she is confident in what she is.

Leah isn’t a social person by nature, she does not forge friendships because of the sake of friendships. If people can be of use to her own grand design she will feign friendliness and compassion. When asked about herself she will lie and never reveal what she really is. Her feelings and emotions are her own and what you see and hear is one big lie.

It is wise not to trust Leah and to always question her words.

Background: Leah has gone through quite some changes throughout canon. She appeared as a handmaiden to Hela (the Norse goddess of death) and stood alongside Kid Loki during his adventures. She ended up to be a handmaiden in every sense of the word when it appeared to be she was, in fact, Hela’s missing hand.

Yet, during one of Loki and Leah’s adventures there was a moment where Loki had to rewrite the past to save Asgard and Midgard and while rewriting said past he also wrote of a Leah who stood by The Serpent (the antagonist) to nurse him back to health. After the disappearance of Leah as Hela’s handmaiden, the written Leah remained.

The Leah I am intending to bring into the game is a construct of the written Leah who is, in fact, Loki’s guilt on two legs looking like an older Leah and behaving like Leah but not the real Leah (the real Leah is trapped back into a
far away past). She exists because Loki is unable to acknowledge the guilt he feels after murdering the boy he could become and she exists to make him admit his wrongdoings.

Abilities: Leah possesses a wide range of magic and is extremely skilled when it comes to utilizing it. It is powerful and at quite a high level (but then again, Leah has had quite some time to refine her skills, being stuck in a far away past for quite a long time). Whether it is offence or defence, Leah knows how to stand her ground.

For instance, she is able to create portals to make travelling from one place to another more easy. She also controls a certain level of astral projection, making her able to appear in front of others who are light years and universes away from her, not just the beings who are part of the Nine Realms. Mostly she does this by using a pentagram, even though it is not certain that this is the only way that makes her able to do such things.

Just like the Asgardian gods have, Leah also possesses their superhuman strength (she has thrown a guy three times her size through a window once) and durability. Another trait she shares with them is that her body tissue and bones are three times as dense as those of humans. This is one of the reasons why she is far heavier than a human being of her age. She is immune to illness, fire and poison and because of her durability also difficult to injure.

Besides that nasty kick to the groin or that fierce punch to the face she does not shy away from using powerful blasts of magic to get a point across. What is most important to know about her abilities is that basically leeches most of her power from Loki himself. Because that is how guilt rolls.

First Person: [audio]
[Her voice sounds kind and sort of warm when she starts to speak.]

Good afternoon. I have just arrived in this city and well, consider me curious. [She pauses briefly while speaking.] My name is Leah. I am quite interested in who you are and where you came from.

I have just arrived in this city and I have heard of monsters and creatures. Are those just stories or is it the truth? It would make life a lot more interesting, don't you think?

[It is all an act, of course. Leah is interested, absolutely, but mostly interested in important information and stupid people willing to give her just that. New place or not, the game has not changed.]

After all, the city does look a little empty at some places.

Third Person: Leah looks around herself. She does not approach anyone just yet, she just watches. Strong men, beautiful women, children, creatures nor child, nor adult. With a bit of a frown she stirs the straw through her milkshake. It is still difficult to wrap her head around the fact that, even after fulfilling her purpose, she is alive again. Or well, maybe Loki never stopped being guilty and it does not surprise her that Loki might have tricked her, his own guilt, his own conscience. Would this make her alive or herself? She thinks not. And she thinks Loki has to pay for such a thing.

Before she allows her grudge to spoil her mood again she spots a lanky young man walking past her. His shoulders are hunched a little and it is obvious that he isn't doing to well. Slowly she stands up, finishing the last bit of her drink. She could offer some support, some wise words and gain some information, get that little peek inside of him.

Feigning friendship, companionship or anything like that is easy, most are gullible enough to fall for some kind words or an arm around them. And well, guilt or not, Leah is rather fond of her role as a therapist. The human psyche is a wonderful thing.
